Crumbl Cookie spreads sweetness to The Greater Scranton Area with higher sales than any other store location.
Aline Poindexter, owner of Dickson City Crumbl Cookie, opened her first store location in her homestate, North Carolina.
Poindexter’s husband, a Scranton native, realized that Crumbl Cookie had not yet made it to his region and together, the pair decided to show Scranton what it was missing.
Luckily, the city exceeded their expectations. Since opening in 2023, the store has received more attention than all three of Poindexter’s North Carolina locations.
“This store has been the number one store in the nation since we opened. People are very receptive and it’s been great.”
Poindexter attributes a great portion of the store’s success to the area’s student population, including students from The University of Scranton.
Julia Nocentino, a student at The University, believes Crumbl Cookie brings much needed energy and sweetness to the area.
“Right when you walk in you can smell the deliciousness of the cookies and are greeted by kind staff members. Other students should definitely check it out and won’t be disappointed. The creative variety of cookies makes it exciting to try new flavors,” Nocentino said.
Although the store doesn’t currently offer any student discounts, the chain is implementing more and more actions to benefit the community.
One feature that Poindexter notes is the locations no-waste policy. All leftover cookies are donated to charities and other groups; nothing gets thrown away.
Positive initiatives like the no-waste policy contribute to the Crumbl Cookie location’s overall success, and help create an environment that leaves employees, visitors and students wanting more.
“The vibe is great. It’s a very special product and a very special company. We tried to instill a very safe, fun environment to work, and people seem to really like it and stay. People just seem to be happy and that makes it very special,” Poindexter said.
Poindexter, who revealed her favorite cookie to be Key Lime Pie, urges students to see what Crumbl Cookie is all about, and reminds visitors that the cookies serve a greater purpose than a simple sweat treat.
“Our mission statement is bringing friends and family together over a box of the best cookies in the world. And that is what we’re trying to do,” Poindexter said.
