Is Nubs Missing? Not just the tail.

Jace Nelson

A recognizable figure at The University of Scranton is missing. Where is Nubs?

The resident tailless squirrel on campus hasn’t been seen in a few days. Students are curious about his disappearance and searching for an explanation.

In the last few days I have heard the rumblings around campus, that being the question of, where is Nubs? The Tailless squirrel of The University of Scranton hasn’t been seen in the last few days and it has been making a stir, about the possible explanation for not seeing him.

Nubs' usual presence in the campus green spaces has long been a source of amusement and comfort for many. Whether it be his playful attitude, running and jumping along or his seemingly fearless approach to human interaction, the squirrel has endeared himself to those who frequent the university grounds.

With his sudden disappearance, it has left a void for some students, with some taking their question of where Nubs is to social media. The disappearance has also yielded many rumors and speculations being thrown out to where he went. Emma Graff a senior had this to say “Maybe Nubs is hibernating”, with that I dug deeper, according to the Natural History Museum in the United Kingdom, squirrels do not in fact hibernate.

Furthering the question to where he went. Siena Testa, a junior, suggested that “Nubs may have left with how cold it has been and the recent snow”. This is a good theory as without a tail, to keep him warm maybe he did leave, for the time being, to be able to survive the tough wintery conditions we have been enduring to begin the spring.

While there are many theories as to where Nubs is and what happened to spur the sudden disappearance. I speak for all of us, and we all hope to see our tailless friend running around on the Dione Green.
