Celebrate the spring semester’s close at Alexander’s Spa

SCRANTON—Alexander’s invites students to winddown after a busy semester inside of its luxurious spa.

Whether local students need hair, skin, or nail care, Alexander’s Salon and Spa, located in downtown Scranton, can assist in all beauty needs.

As a 27-year employee of Alexander’s, Renata Frey, salon and spa manager, has seen many classes of students, and many waves of beauty trends.

Frey says many university students venture into Alexander’s for beauty care. Since COVID, she has seen a change in the beauty industry, one that has swayed the popularity of Alexander’s products and services.

“The industry has changed a lot. People care more about their skin, not their hair,” Frey said.

Because of this change, Frey wants to highlight the spa half of Alexander’s, which has been shifting and improving its services to fit modern trends for nearly 30 years.

The spa features a steam room, various body wraps, scrubs and many unique skin treatments, including micro-needling, derma sweep, microdermabrasion and much, much more.

Olivia Hudak, a senior at the University of Scranton, went to Alexander’s last year to treat herself after a hard semester. Hudak visited the spa, where she got a massage, a manicure and used the steam room.

“The best part about the spa at Alexander’s is the ambiance. I was greeted with refreshments and waited for my massage in a mediation-like room. It was extremely relaxing and exactly what I needed,” Hudak said.

Hudak noted that the beauty services she received were not the only plus of her spa visit, for she was also able to pay using her University Royal Card.

Not all students on campus are aware of this efficient feature and have likewise not utilized Alexander’s partnership with the University.

Taralyn Reilly, a junior at the University, was one of many students unaware of the benefit.

“If someone had told me earlier that I could use my Royal Card, I would have gone to Alexander’s for my hair and nail care,” Reilly said.

Frey says that the Royal Card feature is not the only way Alexander’s works with students, for the salon and spa also offers a 15% off discount to all University students.

With some light shined on these student-friendly benefits and services, Frey hopes Alexander’s will see more students walk into the salon and spa.

For all students with leftover Royal Card Money: Walk down to Alexander’s before the semester ends!
