Eagles victorious over Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX

The Philadelphia Eagles took on the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. It was obvious Philadelphia had control of this year’s battle for the Vince Lombardi Trophy from the start.

The last time the Eagles played the Super Bowl was in 2023. They were up against the Chiefs and lost 38–35. This three-point loss is said to be the driving force that motivated the Eagles to claim their second Super Bowl victory two years later.

The Chiefs were set to make history this year by becoming the first NFL team to win three Super Bowls in a row, but they did not achieve their first touchdown of the game until the third quarter.

Sophomore Eagles fan, Maya Lerner, said that the Chiefs performance in the first half of the big game was not much to see.

“Honestly, in the first half it kind of looked like they almost weren’t trying,” Lerner said.

Fans assumed that Super Bowl LIX would be a tight game given the records of each team, but Philadelphia dominated the field from the beginning.

Fellow Philadelphia Eagles fan, sophomore Mia Livzey said that she could not believe the way the Cheifs were playing.

“It was honestly, it was just a little embarrassing for the Chiefs.”   Livzey said.

There is no doubt that the Eagles played more cohesively than their opponents, with each player maintaining an unmatchable competitive hustle during the game. Meanwhile Chiefs captains Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce both played one of the worst games of their careers, statistically speaking.

Eagles fans all over have been raving about their favorite players and discussing which athlete shined the most throughout the game.

“Probably Saquon Barkley. I don’t really know how you could beat him,” Lerner said.

Livzey said she was pleased to see Cooper DeJean get a great interception in the second half of the game, especially because it was his birthday.

With Super Bowl LIX, the almost three-year-long “Chiefs Dynasty” has come to an end, and a new champion has taken over.

“Piece of advice to the Chiefs: never underestimate the team that you’re playing.” Lerner said.
