SCRANTON – The University of Scranton Board of Trustees will name the University’s 28th president at 11 a.m. tomorrow during a live broadcast.

There is no registration required for this event and members of the University community are invited to watch on the University of Scranton YouTube page.

The Board’s decision comes after current University of Scranton President Scott R. Pilarz, S.J., revealed his intention to step down from his position at the end of the 2020-2021 academic year via a video addressed to the University community on Aug. 19, 2020.

At the time of Pilarz’s resignation, James M. Slattery, chair of the University’s Board of Trustees, ’86, told RoyalNews the Board received the news “with an equal measure of gratitude and sadness.” Slattery said the committee formed to lead the search for Pilarz’s successor hoped to make the process “as inclusive as possible, within the necessary limits of confidentiality.”

Tomorrow, the committee’s efforts will actualize with the announcement of the new president’s name.
